Introducing: the Egyptian cotton bed sheets

Surely you have either one of these cotton bed sheets in your home, and that is fine, but I implore you, get ONE Egyptian cotton sheet set and I promise you, there will be no other. Here is why:

What you did not know about Egyptian cotton is that it has been making a name for itself in the bed sheet industry for the last three centuries. Yes sir. “Best” “the softness feels like nothing else in the world” “the real cotton bed sheet” are some of the few ways the sheet’s fans have described it as. But it is not without reason that this sheet has gotten its reputation.

The Egyptian cotton is handpicked, which, right off the bat, gives of the assurance that the bed sheet is organic. We all love organic. I do, and I know you do too. It is one of the signs that we are using something pure in a world that is infested with pesticides and other dangerous chemicals. Other than that, the handpicking puts less and less pressure on the fibers. A tactic that leaves the mass production facilitating the method of picking cotton via a machine, used by large corporations, way behind when it comes to feel and quality.

Fibers make the best Egyptian cotton sheets

Fibers are one of the most important aspects of any bed sheet. They will determinate whether the bed sheets that you will be sleeping in at night after a long day will provide you a calming sleep or will have you tossing and turning at night. Yup that is true, sometimes it might just be your bedding that is bringing you some sort of irritation that might not be letting you sleep before the big meeting in the morning, and that will allow Susan to gloat in front of the boss because she had the good sense of buying 100% Egyptian cotton sheets!

The best Egyptian cotton sheets are made of long staple fibre

Egyptian cotton sheets have long staple cotton. What is that? Well, all the bed sheets are not made equal. They are usually differentiated by the length of their fiber. Fibers are the fine little strands that make up the raw piece of cotton. Some cotton species will have shorter fibres, while others have longer ones. Usually, a lot of the types of bed sheets are made of short-staple, which are more affordable and also give premium quality. However, the long and extra-long staple fibre is usually present in the likes of Pima and Egyptian cotton. It is these cotton types that are always known for their top quality thanks to the length of the fibres.

Length means strength. It is as simple as that. The longer the length means the stronger, yet softer the fabric itself is. This also results in more long-lasting bed sheets. It’s a win-win in all realms! But I am not done yet. Fabrics that have longer fibres fray, pill, and wrinkle less. All of these factors make the long staple fiber fabrics some of the most ideal bed sheets to buy since their users have always lauded them for aiding in a night of comfortable sleep.

It must be weird thinking that this product, from what you might call heaven, belongs to one of the driest countries of the world, Egypt. Of course, as if the name was not an obvious indication of its origins.

The reason long staple fibers the best Egyptian cotton sheets

Being predominantly cultivated in Nile Delta, this type of cotton has characteristics that make it ideal for it to grow in a dry weather. Though, they are also grown in other countries, the ones grown in Egypt have earned a better reputation, usually due to the world “Egyptian” in the name.

Remember when I said that the fibers of the Egyptian cotton are longer and thus stronger? Like a 100 times already? Well let me stress on that just a bit so you know what you are buying. The thing is that when the fibers are longer they are better able to connect together when being woven to make the bed sheet. This will make them much more resistant to stress, which is all thanks to your body rolling all over the bed when you sleep. This is why people often go for Egyptian cotton bed sheets, because they disable them from having to buy a new bed sheet every month.

Another good thing is that Egyptian cotton is much more porous than regular cotton. Wait, I know you all don’t sweat buckets when you sleep, but we humans do sweat. The last thing we want is to have that smell of sweat on our sheets and have our room stink consistently while we pry it apart to find the unknown source. The Egyptian cotton will be absorbing the sweat in such a way that it doesn’t leave you feeling clammy and your room smells like a normal human’s should.

Lastly, did I mention that it is soft? Oh my goodness! Believe me, folks! It is so soft I swear I could sleep on it for days! It is the perfect amount of cold that my back likes to hit as I get to bed, but also cozy and comfortable. My dark circles are gone ever since I bought these sheets. The sleep is so good that even a light sleeper sleeps like a baby.

Of course, you need to be careful about the thread count of the sheet when you buy. You can research more on that before going for it. However, other than that welcome to the world of Egyptian cotton sheets, and congratulations on being a more aware human!
